Still the fastest, easiest way to build and deploy powerful Internet applications
ColdFusion is a commercial programming language owned by Adobe System, Inc. that provides for the development of dynamic, database-driven web sites. Running on a Java server, ColdFusion uses J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition), .NET and "backend" database products and provides a host of extensions that allow access to additional services such as LDAP, POP, FTP and others. This allows ColdFusion to be used to create dynamic web sites in which each web page is created, on-the-fly when requested by a user. These web pages can be customized and unique, based on each user's preferences, location and other criteria.
Since it is an Adobe product, it provides close integration with other Adobe technologies such as PDF and Flash to provide for media-rich interfaces for form processing, user interaction and information presentation. Adobe continues to integrate other Adobe technologies into ColdFusion, including support for Macromedia Breeze presentations and Macromedia Flex, which allows for the creation of Flash movies from web pages.
Adobe's focus on software applications for graphics, such as Photoshop, carries over to ColdFusion, which provides unique tools for producing interactive, graphic web pages, forms and reports.
